How to Play Online Caribbean Stud
In Caribbean Stud Poker online players begin by putting an ante bet into the appropriate circle. They may also place a $1 progressive side bet if they desire. The player and dealer are then both dealt five cards, with one of the dealer’s cards exposed. The player must now decide if he wishes to fold or raise. If the player folds, he forfeits his ante and side bet. If he raises, he must put up another bet of double his initial bet.

Once the bets are made, the dealer’s hand is exposed. If the player’s hand beats the dealer’s hand, the player wins; otherwise, the player loses all bets. Online Caribbean stud does not offer the lowest house edge of all the online games when you employ basic Caribbean Stud strategy, but it is competitive relative to many of these games. The house edge is about 5.2 percent, which is fairly reasonable for an online casino game. The house edge on the progressive side bet is hard to say definitively, since it changes depending upon how high the progressive jackpot pool has become. However, there needs to be around $236,000 in the progressive pool for the side bet to become a positive expectation play.
Getting Odds in Online Caribbean Stud
In Caribbean stud, you only get odds if the dealer qualifies. If the dealer fails to qualify, you get even money on your ante bet and the hand is over. The exception to this is the side bet. If you play the side bet, you get $50 for a flush, $100 for a full house, 10 percent of the progressive jackpot for a straight flush and the entire progressive jackpot for a royal flush, whether the dealer qualifies or not.
Basic Payout Odds in Online Caribbean Stud
Assuming the dealer does qualify, the raise bet, which is double the ante bet, is paid as follows: even money for a pair, 2-to-1 for two pair, 3-to-1 for three of a kind, 4-to-1 for a straight, 5-to-1 for a flush, 7-to-1 for a full house, 20-to-1 for four of a kind, 50-to-1 for a straight flush and 100-to-1 for a royal flush. While there will be many times when the dealer does not qualify, the big payout you can win when the dealer qualifies and you have a big hand is what most Caribbean stud players are waiting for.
